Vodka Cream Pasta with Italian Sausage

Ingredients
- 1 Tbs olive oil
- 5 links sweet Italian sausage, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1/2 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 32 oz can Italian tomatoes with basil
- 1 cup vodka
- 1 cup cream
- 1 pinch kosher salt, or to taste
- 1 pinch pepper, or to taste
- 1 large bunch basil, roughly chopped
- 1 package penne pasta
Directions
- Preheat large skillet. Drizzle with olive oil and add sausage to pre-heated pan. Brown sausage.
- Add onions and garlic and saut until translucent.
- Add tomatoes and vodka. Turn heat to a simmer. Break up tomatoes with a spoon or potato masher.
- Add cream, salt, and pepper to sauce and bring to a boil, then remove from heat. Add basil and stir until just wilted.
- While sauce is simmering, bring water to a boil for pasta in a separate saucepan. Cook pasta according to package directions.
- Serve sauce over pasta and don't forget the garlic toast!
