Summer Savory is indigenous to the Mediterranean countries but is now widely cultivated as a kitchen herb. This culinary spice, which commonly complements bean dishes, is a pleasing remedy for indigestion, gas, and other gastrointestinal complaints.
In the kitchen, Summer Savory, also known as Bean Herb in Germany, lends its sharp almost piney, peppery flavor to bean dishes and soups, to flavor sauces, or simply as a substitute for pepper.
Indigestion, improves digestion; gas; nausea; cramps; sore throat (gargle); culinary spice (used both finely chopped or dried).
Pour 1 cup of boiling water over ½ to 1 teaspoonful of herb. Allow to steep 4-7 minutes, then strain. Drink 1- 2 cups of tea daily. If desired, add honey and/or lemon to taste.
