Red Sandalwood is the heartwood of the Pterocarpus santalinus, a tree native of South India, Sri Lanka and the Philippines. It’s a traditional Ayurvedic skin care ingredient for blemish-free skin and yields a natural reddish-scarlet color that is used in DIY body powders, soaps, and natural cosmetics.
NOTE: This variety of Sandalwood is mildly aromatic, for a stronger fragrance use Yellow Sandalwood (Santalum album).
