Grains of Paradise are native to tropical West Africa. This culinary spice is said to have a flavor reminiscent of Cardamom, Ginger and Pepper, and is a common ingredient in West African dishes.
Several culinary references note that Grains of Paradise complements vegetables, as well as Middle Eastern lamb and eggplant dishes; its unique flavor is also a popular addition to exotic beer recipes.
