This Amazonian native is sometimes called “trumpet tree” which refers to its tissue-paper-like, trumpet-shaped flowers. There are more than 60 species of this beautiful, flowering tree with blooms that range from pink to yellow. The inner bark of both the pink and yellow flowering trees is used by the indigenous peoples of South America and revered by Western herbalists.
Taste: Woody, tannic and slightly bitter.
