Roasted Chicory root is well known for its combination with coffee. However, with its energy-boosting properties and its rich source of vitamins, this non-caffeine herb with its bold, bittersweet flavor, recommends itself as the alternative to coffee.
To make your own cup of aromatic Chicory tea, simply pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1/2 - 1 teaspoonful of herb, allow to steep 4-7 minutes, then strain. If desired, add honey and enjoy 1 or 2 steaming cups daily.

The roasted form of the Dandelion root is used for much the same purposes as the unroasted root- as a traditional remedy for liver & gallbladder complaints. A tea made from the roasted root however, is used as an old-fashioned, robust coffee substitute.
Many herbalists view Dandelion root as one of the best herbs for cleansing & toning the liver and gallbladder. It is believed to be highly effective for helping to cleanse the body of toxins- it's even been recommended for skin problems resulting from
impurities in the blood. Because Dandelion root is said to improve bile production, it is also a primary herb for relieving digestive complaints. It is generally thought that such complaints, including indigestion and gas, might be due to insufficient
bile production or stomach acid. In fact, one classic herbal guide suggested that a tea of the roasted roots can be especially good for dyspepsia. (The taste is described as slightly more bitter than espresso- honey can be added).
Common use:
